I'm Chetan, planning port uClinux on the OR1200 processor using Xilinx FPGA board and I came across an article regarding the uClinux porting

on OpenRISC 1200 processor the link in the article take you to Open core web page and there is no content displayed, so I

request if any of you have ported uClinux on OR1200 processor to share the process and any documents that will be really helpful.

reference link http://www.uclinux.org/pub/uClinux/archive/6243.html

Thanks and Best Regards,
Chetan.

I think long ago in the old Opencores CVS repository there was a uclinux port. I seem to vaguely recall this being around up through the linux-2.4 stuff.

Not sure what happened to it after one or the other of the transitions. For a while I think it was in a folder called "old" even back then in 2004-2005 timeframe IIRC.

I thought a lot of the uclinux core stuff was now in the mainline kernel so you could probably start there on a re-port if no one else has anything....

Hi Chetan

The functionality of uClinux was absorbed into mainline Linux some time ago. So just use the standard Linux port.

Hi Rich/Jeremy,

Thanks for the information, I did some search on the net and found couple of links on porting the
Linux on OR1200 processor, but have been caught up with the concepts and bit confused how to start
and what tools are required for the porting activity. So if you guys know any information
or link how to start or guide me to look for the information it will be helpful.

I have time constrain and I know the forum is the best place to discusses and share the ideas and
complete the activity fast.

Chetan,

You will be relieved to know that there is no need to "port Linux on or1200",
the already existing OpenRISC 1000 Linux port runs perfectly fine
on several development boards with the or1200 implementation,
including a number of Xilinx boards.

What xilinx board are you intending to use or1200 on?

Hi Stekern,

The basic idea is to develop a SoC with OR1200 processor with AXI and APB interconnect and use
uClinux or linux platform for the application development, We have developed our own board based
on Xilinx Vertex 5 with on-board Flash, ROM, UART and other peripherals so please suggest me
how to go about it.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Chetan.
